Understanding Cable Abbreviations (Part I)

Explaining 2-Number Cables such as 2/1 LPC or 1/2 RPC

In this knitting tutorial I explain how to read 2-number cable abbreviations (like 1/2 RPC for example), and explain the meaning of all of the letters and numbers you will see in cable knitting patterns.

I also demonstrate the formation of cables using ribbons, to make the process easier to visualise, and I show what 2/1 cables look like when they are knit.

I hope to make the whole subject of cables a lot simpler for you, because I believe that understanding a subject makes the whole thing make a lot more sense, rather than just following instructions step-by-step without knowing why.

Also, all of this information is vital if you ever want to design your own cable patterns :)
