How to Knit Basic Cables

C6F & C6B Patterns

This simple cabling tutorial walks you through how to knit two popular basic cables - one left leaning and one right leaning.
The difference between these two methods is very small; it all depends on whether you hold the cable needle at the front or at the back...that's it!

In knitting patterns, these cables would likely be written as C6F (cable 6 front) and C6B (cable 6 back)…. or 3/3 LC (3 over 3 left cross) and 3/3 RC (3 over 3 righ cross).

I hope you find this useful :)
